Skull Skates is Canada’s oldest skate brand – standing strong for 35 years, so what better way to celebrate this than by making a commercial? Mike McKinlay handled the direction, filming and editing of this piece, which features guest appearances by the JAKS gang and ’80s Skull Skates legend Carlos Longo.

PD’s Hot Shop: New Space in Motion

After 18 years of being in the same location in the Kitsilano area of Vancouver, PD’s Hot Shop (home of Skull Skates) recently relocated to a new store front at 3734 West 10th at Alma St. There was a new location celebration on July 30th, and Mike McKinlay put together a glimpse of the festivities, including a live performance by the Sorcerers (which you can learn more about by clicking to our “Sound Check” page in Issue 104).

PD’s Hot Shop in Vancouver, home of Skull Skates, was born in 1976 and stands as the longest running skateshop in Canada. After 18 years of being in the same location on West 4th (which will remain open until January 2012), they’re proud to celebrate the grand opening of the new store on 3734 West 10th near Alma.

Skull Skates/PD’s New HQ

After some swirling rumours, the truth web-surfaced on Go Skateboarding Day. After 18 years in the same location, Skull Skates / PD’s Hot Shop has a new headquarters, still on Vancouver’s west side. The new spot is at 3734 West 10th at Alma street and will be open limited hours starting on June 23rd. The OG store on West 4th and MacDonald will also remain open throughout 2011.
