2009 Issues of Concrete – NOW ONLINE

Friday, April 8th, 2011

The 2009 Concrete publishing season was a huge year that spanned 7 issues. On top of all the sturdy content within those pages, ’09 boasted covers with Bradley Sheppard (#98), Jamie Tancowny (#99/his first in Canada), Deer Man Of Dark Woods (#100), Chad Dickson (#101/his first), Hill Sulpher (#102/his first), Dave Nolan (#103 – The Photo Annual) and Scott Decenzo (#104). The online editions of all the 2009 issues are now available to check out, simply click each cover below or visit our online mag archive.

The biggest issue of 2009 was the retrospective #100, featuring The Barrier Kult’s D.M.O.D.W. on the cover (shot by Brian Caissie). This issue came complete with a newsprint insert of retro ads/content as a nod to the mag’s large-format roots. Loaded with history and testimonials from a who’s who in Canadian skateboarding, Issue 100 covers a lot of ground. Numerous notable skaters, photographers and industry heads got their start on the pages of Concrete, and continue to, ever since Kevin Harris published the first issue in 1990. Click the cover:

Issue 100 (June ’09) also kicked off the magazine’s web commercials, which are now produced regularly. This particular one (shot and edited by David Ehrenreich/featuring D.M.O.D.W.) was quite the mission:
