History

History: Concrete Skateboarding – Since 1990
After 19 years of uncompromising skateboarding coverage, CONCRETE continues to be one of Canada’s most respected names in skateboarding.
In 1989 the Canadian skateboard scene needed a way to promote a new generation of Canadian skateboarders. Pro Skateboarder, Kevin Harris, recognized this need and in 1989 created Concrete Powder Magazine; Canada’s first skateboard magazine. As a member of The Bones Brigade in the 80′s, Kevin’s business career began in 1985 with the formation of Ultimate Skateboard Distribution, which provided the financial backing necessary to begin publishing CONCRETE. Over our 19 year life span we have covered many changes in the skateboard world and helped countless Canadian skaters expand their careers. 2009 will see our 100th issue go to press.
CONCRETE publishes 7 issues per year. 5 FREE issues distributed to Skate Shops and 2 Feature issues available on the news stands and in shops.
