My 9 year old son picked up your magazine “2009 Photo Annual” the other day, and after looking at it told me “I don’t think I want this magazine anymore Mom.” when I asked why.. his response was “because it has pictures of kids smoking.” I didn’t believe him when he told me…and yes low and behold, the picture is there as well as one with young girls looking at porn.. The worst was the advertisement with a young female, in nothing but underwear, and bleeped out boobs, wanting visitors, on the uncensored website. I couldn’t beleieve my eyes, I can’t believe that your magazine would publish this…especially one that is available free to kids/teenagers interested in skateboarding, and in the stores where their gear is purchased. Come on, What were you thinking!!!!!Young kids don’t read captions!!!!!they just look at the pictures, look at the tricks…and think that the pictures are cool, and now smoking and sex are too!? Needless to say, my son is not very interested in your magazine, and I certianly wouldn’t pay to subscribe.

wow. skateboarding is all about that…

  3. dr spock says:

Magazines are not published for 9 yr olds. Coloring books are. Maybe flip through it before your kid does next time.

Hi Susan, since when have smoking and sex not been cool?
Next you are going to tell us rock and roll is the devil too right?

    Like dr spock said^^
Instead of blaming the magazine, stores, etc….
maybe try being a grown up for once and check to see what your kid is looking at before he looks at it.

I am sure your son does not have any violent video games, movies, toys…

ps-the good news is you don’t have to subscribe to concrete…it’s been free forever :)

I’m with Spock–if you don’t like it, get over it. It’s no one’s responsibility but yours to control the content your child is exposed to. It’s not our job to raise your kid “proper.” (And yes, smoking and sex are cool to some people).
