21-Song Salute with Wilson, Machnau and Yankou

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Vancouver’s Cory Wilson and Paul Machnau along with Toronto’s Lee Yankou took the time to share 7 of their favourite tracks and some commentary about each courtesy of Frank Daniello. Have a peak here and see the full list, videos and photos on the Push blog.

Ululation: “Brouhaha” (Ululation, 1987)
“It’s the jazz tune from Ethan Fowler’s part in Stereo’s ‘A Visual Sound’ (1994). To me, this part captures what skateboarding is all about – cruising around the streets. The music fits nicely with the skating and lifestyle footage in the part.”

The Birdman Crash Lands

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

The Birdman, aka Tony Hawk,  took a hard slam during a Quiksilver demo in Anaheim CA last weekend that ended up sending him to the local hospital. He is recovering well but who knows how long he will be on the sidelines as it was said that he suffered a  “Pelvic vertical shear injury”. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery and he is back on his board in no time. Get well soon Tony.

EA Skate 3 x Concrete Giveaway Winners!

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Congratulations to Tanner Mamela, of Prince George, British Columbia – 1st place and Tron Stanley of Brandon, Manitoba – 2nd place in the EA Skate 3 x Concrete Skateboarding Magazine Giveaway!!

Tanner’s answers for first place: Chris Haslam, Andrew Reynolds, Lizard King, & Mark Appleyard
Tanner posted his answers so fast that I hadn’t even announced the contest on our site yet. DAMN that’s a first place if I ever saw one. Nice work man! Can’t believe you left out DMODW!

Tron’s amswers: Deer Man of the Dark Woods, Chris Haslam, Mark Appleyard.
We didn’t hold it against Tron that he threw a ‘the’ into Deer Man’s name… and he certainly wasn’t in the ‘fastest answers’ category (no there weren’t categories and it wasn’t a test of speed) which goes to show you that it’s never too late to get in on the contest, unless you try to get in after the deadline… then it’s too late.

The correct answers were: Chris Haslam, Deer Man of Dark Woods, Mark Appleyard, Lizard King and/or Andrew Reynolds

Click the Contest image to go to the Concrete Facebook page and view the EA Skate 3 article down below.
